All-on-four dental implants
What are All-on-4 implants?
This is a dental implant technique particularly indicated for edentulous patients (those who have lost all their teeth) and those patients who will lose all their teeth.
All-on-4 is an innovative technique that involves placing a set of new teeth on fixed implants, usually a minimum of four, hence the treatment name: it is related to the number of implants required to place the prosthesis. If six implants are needed, the technique is called All-on-6.
What are the advantages?
With this procedure, all the teeth of the upper or lower arches (or both) can be replaced in a single session. Two straight anterior implants and two tilted implants in the posterior are needed. During this same visit, a provisional set of teeth will be attached to the implants, and will be replaced with a permanent fixed prosthesis after approximately 6 months.
Patients not only leave with a full set of complete arches on the day of treatment: this technique is also considerably more cost-effective, since the number of implants required is greatly reduced.
No grafting is necessary, which makes this the perfect solution for patients with bone loss. The immediate placement of functioning teeth reduces the number of procedures and, therefore, the total treatment time.
