Dental cleaning

Dental cleaning

Dental cleaning is an essential part of keeping your mouth healthy. We should all brush our teeth after every meal, but it’s not always possible. Which is why we always recommend that our patients brush at least twice a day –once in the morning and once at night– to prevent periodontal diseases?

Use floss

Another at-home cleaning technique is flossing. Floss is a cord of thin filaments used to remove food and dental plaque from between teeth in areas a toothbrush is unable to reach. Follow these easy steps for proper flossing:

  1. Break off a piece about 40 cm long. Wrap most around the index finger and thumb of each hand.
  2. Leave about 6-8 cm of floss between each hand.
  3. Pull taut and gently slide the floss between the teeth in a zigzag motion. Always run the floss along the teeth.
  4. Work on those areas where the toothbrush is unable to reach.

How often should I clean my teeth?

In addition to at-home care, at the Casanova 25 dental clinic we recommend visiting the dentist for professional dental cleaning at least once a year (sometimes every six months and even three times a year for certain patients).

Visits usually last for about 30-40 minutes. The dentist will remove any plaque, tartar and stains on the teeth. Dental cleanings are a crucial part of good oral health.

Many people avoid visiting the dentist because they are afraid of pain. In some cases dental cleaning may be uncomfortable, but it is never painful. There are also methods like conscious sedation that help patients relax and feel comfortable when visiting the dentist.

Another issue is that avoiding visiting the dentist for a cleaning can lead to problems like plaque, tartar, halitosis, caries, periodontitis, gingivitis...

You’ll soon see great results and healthier teeth if you clean your teeth properly at home and regularly go to the dentist for a professional cleaning.
